Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent.  The cross made of ashes that we receive on this day serves as a reminder that the path to renewal is gritty and unglamourous.  The practices of fasting and almsgiving are reminders that paring down and abstaining from certain luxuries can clear the path by which we will return to God.  Ash Wednesday is a day of fasting and abstinence, but not a holy day of obligation.

Masses (Includes Imposition of Ashes):
8:30 AM and 6:30 PM
Liturgy of the Word and Imposition of Ashes
12:00 Noon

Lent 
Daily Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 AM on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

Lenten Food Drive
In keeping with our Lenten practice of prayer, fasting and almsgiving, you are invited to participate in a food collection to help those in need. 
During the weekend Masses during Lent, you will be invited to bring to the altar non-perishable food donations of canned fruit & vegetables, peanut butter, jelly, cereals, and canned meats (tuna, chicken, SPAM, stews).  Grocery gift cards are also welcome. 
Please check the Best By date so expired food is not distributed.  Also, be aware of ease of accessibility for the homeless.  Pop-top cans are excellent.  Most homeless have no means of cooking things like pasta. Not only homeless but many local families rely on assistance from our food pantry and that of St. Vincent de Paul to make it through the month.  Thank you for your generosity!

 
Stations of the Cross
A tradition that goes back to the Middle Ages.  European pilgrims would travel to the Holy Land to walk the same steps as Jesus did in his final hours.  The idea of having stations to represent each part of Jesus’ journey came into practice for those who could not travel to the Holy Land themselves.

Each Friday night during Lent we offer the devotion of Stations of the Cross at 6:00 pm in the church.  Each week features a different approach to the Stations.  You are invited to experience them all.
 
February 20: Mystery of the Cross - Praying the Stations with Pope Francis, presented by Fr. Renier
 
February 27: Everyone’s Way of the Cross, presented by OCIA Facilitators
 
March 6: Walk with Me the Way of the Cross, presented by L.O.V.E. ministry
 
March 13: By His Cross, Stations for Young Catholics and Their Families, presented by Sunday Faith Formation 5^th Grade class
 
March 20: Mary, the Mother of Jesus, presented by Mom’s Bible Study
 
March 27: Shadow Stations, presented by Middle School students 
 
This devotion is followed by a simple soup and bread supper hosted by students and families in our parish community.  The final Friday (March 27) will be a fish fry.  Check the bulletin for payment information and RSVP details.  Donations accepted at the soup supper will go to Rocklin & Loomis Kids In Need.  
 
Easter

Triduum
The liturgical season of Triduum begins with Thursday evening and ends with Easter.  It is ONE celebration spread across three days.  The three days of Triduum ( Triduum is Latin for "three days") are counted using the Jewish way of keeping time: from sunset to sunset.   If you have never participated before, please join us for one or all three movements of this 3-day liturgy.  You will experience sights and sounds unlike any other liturgical season.  We look forward to celebrating with you!

Easter Vigil

Easter Vigil is the culmination of Triduum.  Join us as we are led by the light of Christ toward the celebration of the Resurrection where we joyfully witness our Elect and Candidates receive their Sacraments of Initiation.  Easter Vigil is the pinnacle of our faith.  Come and be forever changed as you experience this beautiful liturgy.
